The First Question Society

Continuing Jeff Robinson's legacy of sustainability leadership, generating ripples of hope and transformation.

Who we are & why we exist

Our Mission

To help people uncover their purpose in creating a world where communities and the wider community of life can thrive.

Where we began

Jeff inspired us all

Jeff Robinson inspired so many individuals and organisations to shape our places in ways that were more sustainable and made people happier and healthier.

He encouraged everyone to reach further, move faster and to go together.

He understood that fostering positive change in our built environment started with people, building lasting relationships, valuing our differences and creating an energy, excitement and sense of fun about what we could collectively achieve.

"He also understood the challenges we face together are existential, and we must rise to these challenges by thinking big, being bold and decisive."

He believed everyone had the ability to be a leader, to drive change and make the world a better place. He was renowned for asking the first question that illuminated the pathway on that journey of leadership.

The First Question Society was formed to continue Jeff's legacy of sustainability leadership and generate ripples of hope and transformation.

How we do it

Three pillars of action

1

Develop Leadership

Creating opportunities to develop sustainability leadership through scholarships, programs and mentorship that help people step into their role as change-makers.

2

Cultivate Trust

Building relationships of trust and collaboration across disciplines, sectors and backgrounds, just as Jeff did throughout his career.

3

Build Ambition

Generating the collective ambition needed to address the existential challenges of our time, inspiring people to think big, be bold, and move together.

Our Vision

"A world where communities and the wider community of life can thrive."
